It is the first venture in Brisbane for Club Corp, the largest owner and operator of golf clubs and resorts in the world.
Measuring 6455 metres in length, the 18-hole, par-72 North Lakes golf course has been specifically designed to cater to all levels of golfer, but will provide a stern test for those in a competitive frame of mind.
It's a pretty tight and windy course already and the fairly excessive bunkering on some holes just made it even more difficult.
There is also a creek that runs through several holes, which requires careful layups and shot selection, but also punishes miss-hits.
North Lakes is perfectly set up to handle such an event with no fuss bag drop and cart allocation.
Before you knew it we were out on the course and ready to go.
Course was pretty wet but held up under the traffic. Not recommended for beginners or high handicappers unless they have lots of balls! , very helpful as I managed to book for the Sat but meant Sunday. The food was very good and the drinks served in a manner that made you feel like it was an occasion not just a standard drink.
The Club is welcoming and comfortable, affording the spirit of genuine hospitality of Queensland. So come on fellow players please be respectful to each other and rake the bunkers after you have played from bunker. Obviously being during the week the course was very quiet and I did not have any issues with slow play. Water was in play and the rough was thick and concealed the ball well on more than a third of the course. Played on Australia Day and although a full field the speed of play was excellent.Course was in great condition as you come to expect for the price point. The round however was very slow going, with no sign of marshalls on the course, barely made it in before dark from a 1pm tee time. Although it had being raining most of the morning by the time i got through a few holes the course had dried up. Course in great condition, always a good lie so long as your in the fairway, greens fast and true.Greens rolled well its just a shame that some people dont spend 10 seconds repairing their pitch marks. All round great afternoon of golf and well worth to me. Recently played in a Social Golf Day with the Nomads with around 100 players.
